Assuming that dirt is something undesirable, hence the need
to remove it from the surfaces where it has build up. The
detergency problem (from the latin de-tergere=wash off) is
gaining more and more importance in modern society, where
there is a trend to award specialised and professionally competent
third companies cleaning contracts. Preconceptions linked
to the cleaning operation as a menial and denigrating task
are therefore to be put aside. Labour costs for cleaning operations
represent about 95% of the total amount. An accurate choice
of the equipment and products to be used is therefore of primary
importance in order to reduce manual tasks. Cleaning and disinfection
are key elements for environmental sanitization: the former
enables the removal of bacterial flora by moving dirt away
and the latter enables the neutralization or killing of micro-organisms.
